Surpriză: engleza nu va mai fi limbă oficială a Uniunii Europene după finalizarea Brexit

Danuta Hubner, şefa Comitetului pentru Afaceri Constituţionale al Uniunii Europene (AFCO) a avertizat luni că engleza nu va mai fi limbă oficială a UE după ieşirea Marii Britanii.

În prezent, engleza este un dintre cele 24 de limbi recunoscute oficial pentru că Marea Britanie a desemnat-o ca proprie limbă oficială; după ieşirea britanicilor din organizaţia europeană, nu vor mai exista motive pentru ca engleza să aibă un statul oficial.

"Avem nişte reguli, iar cea mai importantă e că fiecare stat poate notifica UE cu privire la limba recunoscută legal", a spus Hubner. "Irlandezii au desemnat galica, maltezii au desemnat malteza, iar engleza a fost desemnată doar de Marea Britanie. Dacă nu mai avem Marea Britanie, nu mai avem nici engleza."

Comisia Europeană a început deja să folosească mai des franceza şi germana în actele oficiale, ca o mişcare simbolică la adresa rezultatului de la referendumul din Marea Britanie.
